This is a community centered event with racing for all abilities and ages. Our goal is to bring people together, promote fitness, and be outside. This is a one of a kind run/race where you will do multiple laps of the same course run cross country style on the grass at WOODS PARK. Perfect for friends and family to come cheer you on.
All on time, October 18th, registrants will receive gloves and cotton towel.
All that register by October 30th, will receive gloves.
Wild Things 1 mile
This is a 12 and under event that will do one lap, and a little bit, of the loop course.
Start time is 545 pm for the Wild Things 1 mile
Start time is 610 pm for the All Comers 5k
Woods Park 5k
This year we are going to go to one 5k race for all paces. Come push yourself on one of the few flat, multi-loop courses in the area. Just enough terrain to make it interesting, but smooth enough you can run fast even on a cross country course.
Runners will be getting lapped and we will stress the “stay to the right except to pass” principle.
It will be a great night to test your fall running fitness.
Parking: Parking is available in all nearby areas. Lot south of Lincoln-Lancaster County Health building, Lots west and south of Kiwanis ball field. Lot east of Woods tennis and pool. Street parking on Rogers Memorial Dr (watch for no parking signs). Please try to avoid parking in the neighborhood to the west of Woods Park.
Packet Pickup: Race day only, at shelter near playground. Starting around 4pm.
Awards (5K Only): Individual prize package donated by Lincoln Running Company and Fleet Feet of Lincoln will be given to the top 10 men and women open (39 and under) and master’s (40 ).
Food Trucks: To be determined.
The only way this event will be cancelled is inclement severe weather. I.e. lightning.
There are NO refunds for the cancellation of the race due to weather.

The Beer & Bagel Run is a tradition going back more than 25 years in Nebraska. So, most runners in the area know the drill. If this is your first time, this is how it works: It’s a two-day weekend event, with a half-ish marathon (13-ish miles) miles on Saturday morning and a standard race (4-ish miles) on Sunday morning. Both are held at the same location, on the same trails. Both have a post-race party that includes all your beer and bagels along with music, games and awards. Runners finishing both days will receive a special Squatchy medal! And two parties!
Coveted Race Shirt – your choice of slogans… |
Let’s be honest for a minute. You really only do the race for three things: the course, the free food & drink, and a good race shirt. Ours is a high-quality, long-sleeve tech shirt with the race logo printed on front and “I’m a Drinker with a Running Problem!” printed across the back. We also offer a non-drinker version for the shirt: “I’m a Root Beer Drinker with a Running Problem!” All shirts are unisex style and available XS to XXL. If you register within two weeks of the race date, your shirt may not be available in the requested size subject to availability at check in.
Registration Package |
– Race Entry into a USATF Sanctioned event
– Professionally timed event
– Age group awards
– Souvenir Race Bib
– Coveted “I’m a drinker with a running problem” long sleeve tech tee
– Finishers Award
– Local Brews
– Free Bagel & Chili
– ALWAYS Free Parking
– Tailgating games pre & post-run
– Race pics with Sasquatch
The Course |
Forget the crazy antics, insane price tags, colored powders, glow sticks, mud pits, or man-made obstacles. At Beer & Bagel we let Mother Nature do the work: Rugged and untamed trails, the way running was meant to be. You might get wet, you might get muddy, but one thing is for sure: You’re going to have a blast!
Companion Passes |
Bringing your #1 fan? Get them a companion pass so they can share in the fun, while you do the run. A companion pass gets them in the gate for beer and bagels and anything else we are serving. Does not include a shirt.
(Registered runners DO NOT need a pass for themselves, only for their guests).

Ladies of the Evening is a group of Omaha Running Club women who share a common interest in running and walking. During their monthly gatherings of 15-30 women, they share running tips, set training goals, review regimens and build friendships.
The group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at a designated member’s home where they walk or run for 30-40 minutes, then meet back at the house to share a potluck dinner. Learn More

Event Details
A running and hiking experience (just to be clear: this is NOT a race) this November at Hitchcock Nature Center to benefit the men and women of Open Door Mission. Sponsored by HOKA, Peak Challenge, Hitchcock Nature Center and local trail runners.
.
Donate some socks or underwear. Consider donating a coat. Gently used running shoes? Great! They are in great need! We will lead a hiking or running experience of some of the new trails. HOKA will demo trail and hiking shoes for you to try out, as well as giving away some swag and shoes to a drawing winner! Not only that, it will once again this year be donating many HOKA shoes to the men and women at Open Door. Peak Challenge will be giving away two annual passes to Hitchcock Nature Center. HOKA will raffle off some cool HOKA items. We will have men from the Open Door joining us on the trails that morning!
The coffee will be hot, there are rumors of flapjacks on the cooktop and the stoke will be high! We will be at the BRAND NEW Pavilion located at the park entrance! If you do not have an annual pass, the daily entry fee is $5.
Over the past two years, more than 1,500 pairs of socks were donated by runners and hikers like you. Over 100 pairs of shoes donated by HOKA and 70 more by you all. These men and women were able to use those shoes all throughout 2022 and 2023. Incredible response and our goal this year is to surpass that generosity! Will you make it happen for these men and women who need a loving hand?
