The Blade 5K got its start in 2018 as when a group of friends from the local running community  came together to raise funds to support local runner, Nate Wigdahl, to get the running blade be needed to get back to living a healthy active life style!   Nate as inspired to pay it forward to help other amputees and adaptive athletes have access to the equipment and specialized prosthetics they need to enjoy an active lifestyle!   Nate led the charge on forming The Blade 5K,  a 100% volunteer run 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adaptive athletes!

The Blade 5K is celebrating our 5th year.   This year, our board has adapted our mission to serve ALL adaptive athletes (including, but not limited to amputees). We are looking forward to hosting a dual event – one in-person event, or alternatively, a virtual option. We are determined to help yet another deserving athlete overcome any financial obstacles so they can live their best health lifestyle.The 2022 Blade 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk will be held in-person at Chalco Recreation Area on Saturday, July 9th, and is also open to the world via our virtual option.
