Event Details

One mile. The most historical race distance ever. So why not run a mile on the streets of historic downtown Fremont, known long ago as the White Light City?!

The White Light Mile will be run on a pancake flat, USATF certified and chip-timed course during Fremont’s 1st Annual Fall Festival with events for the entire family to enjoy all weekend!

The route will be lined with musicians on several street corners and strands of white lights will be strung across portions of the race course. Spectators will be given their own white lights to display while cheering on the throng of runners.

From 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m., we’ll have waves of runners testing their limits in chip-timed heats. At 6:45 p.m., we’ll hold the elite women’s heat, then at 6:55 p.m., we’ll end the night with the elite men’s race*.

Heats will be set up to run approximately every 10-15 minutes, and each participant will receive an email with their specific wave time 1 week before the race. Wave times will be determined and be at the sole discretion of run nebraska.

Each participant will receive a White Light Mile t-shirt (if registered by September 24th – shirt availability and sizes cannot be guaranteed after this date), a ticket for free post-race BBQ (REAL FOOD!) and a post-race festivities including live music.

Runners will also be eligible for awards, as we’ll recognize the top (non-elite race) male and female and the fastest finisher in each age group. The awards ceremony will follow the elite heats, so stick around and watch some quick times!

For those interested in the elite races, qualifying times are as follows:

  • Women: faster than 6:00 in a 1 mile race, or faster than 20:00 in a 5k race
  • Men: faster than 5:00 in a 1 mile race, or faster than 16:00 in a 5k race

*If you’re interested in joining the elite men’s or women’s race, you will be required to submit a time from a qualifying race during the registration process. Entry into the elite heat is at the sole discretion of the race organizers and access to that race is not guaranteed. We will cap the elite fields at 15 men and women, respectively.
