Come join us for exciting year 3 of the Yippee-Ki-Yay 50K, Half Marathon and 5mile races on Saturday, October 22, 2022 starting at 8am in Council Bluffs, IA.  All races will take place on the gorgeous Wabash Trace Nature Trail starting and finishing at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park. You will have your choice of running a 5mile, Half Marathon or 50K Ultra Marathon. Unique to the area this Rails to Trail Course will be a great choice for those hoping to add an Ultra Marathon to their race resume or try to run a personal best time on the #1 fastest avg. finisher 50K couse in the state of Iowa 2 years in a row.  With the countryside views of the Heartland our Half Marathon event has become a quick favorite to many!  After you’ve crossed the finish line wrap up your race day with some great eats.  Reserve your spot today because the field will be limited to just 300 runners and this event will be one that you will absolutely not want to miss!

Event Details

Location and Start Times:

Start/Finish is at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park

·    The 50K (31mile) event starts at 8am

·    The Half Marathon event starts at 8:15am

·    The 5mile race will start at 8:30am

Event Info:

·    Field limit:  300 runners
·    Each event will be chip-timed, There will be a 9hr course time limit for the event.

·    Trail Conditions: 90% Rail Trail 10% Pavement (50K Course)

·    50K, Half Marathon and 5mile courses (see maps below)
·    There will be Bathrooms  along the course and plenty of great views of the Heartland Countryside!!!

·    Aid stations with water, Gatorade, Honey Stinger gels & after 10miles Ultra Food for the 50K runners.
·    Each course 50K, Half Marathon & 5mile is an out and back course completely run on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail
·    Race day safety details, Course maps, rules sent via email/athlete guide prior to race day and notification updates as they take place.

 

Participants receive:
50K,Half Marathon, 5mile Runners will receive:  Long Sleeve Race T-shirt, Custom Finisher Koozie and Finisher Medal!

Registering Military Veterans

If you are a Military Veteran and you’re running with us at the 2022 races, be sure to select and answer the Military Veteran question at the time of sign up in the registration page. When you do you will be entered into a special drawing that will be take place race week this October.  A single drawn recipient will receive an awesome special edition Yippee-Ki-Yay race kit bundle full of great products!

Packet pickup locations for 10/21: Packet Pick up will on Friday 10/21 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Location in Council Bluffs, IA. Times of pick up TBA.  There will be NO race day packet pickup.  There will also be a “mail my packet to me” option available at the time of registration only for a fee.  This option is only available prior to 9/19.

Drop Down Option:  There will be a drop-down option for registered 50K runners only to the Half Marathon distance. The runner will not be eligible for award placement regardless if the decision is made during the race or if notified prior to race start however the runner will be recognized as a finisher and able to collect a finishers medal and finisher tumbler.  There are no refunds or credits when dropping down.

*The following will not be permitted on race day by participants: Pets, Runners not wearing race bib, baby joggers/strollers, roller skates, roller blades, Skateboards. The trail does not permit the use of motorized vehicles as well.

Timing and Photos for the event:

 Timing and Photos will be conducted by Run Nebraska so be sure to smile as they capture photos of you on your epic day!

The Course:
Each event is run on the Historic Wabash Trace Nature Trail which is a converted Rails to Trail with a fine crushed limestone surface.

Awards:
All races –  First place and Second place awards to each Male and Female in each respective race distance.

*Our preferred start to our races would be a traditional mass start to each race distance, that said however we will be following state health guidelines in the conducting of the race. In addition to adhering to health guidelines, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 data and adapt our race day strategies. Even with our race having a smaller field, in a trail setting, the safety of our runners, volunteers and community is paramount.
